The UKFC, which was established to develop and promote British cinema, has fallen victim to massive spending cuts as the country’s new government attempts to curb spiraling debt.But the stars credit the organization with their career successes – and claim axing the council will destroy the “backbone” of Britain’s film industry. A joint letter from the stars to Britain’s Daily Telegraph newspaper reads: “We all owe any success we have had in our acting careers, to varying degrees, to films supported by the UK Film Council.”

“But it is not out of personal gratitude that we are dismayed that the UKFC is facing the axe; it is because we fear the impact on the British film industry as a whole. It is our camera crews, lighting experts, set builders and a whole host of other skilled people who give our film industry such an edge.”

“Their expertise and experience, which the UKFC has done so much to foster, is the main reason why so many top Hollywood directors choose to make films here in Britain. We should think long and hard about getting rid of one of the major factors behind a great British success story.”

“John and Emily were married on Saturday in a private ceremony,” Krasinski’s rep tells Us. Blunt wore a custom cream chiffon sweetheart draped Marchesa gown with embroidered detail. George Clooney and Italian girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis were in attendance; Blunt and Krasinski had been staying at Clooney’s nearby Lake Como estate since the July 4th weekend.

How was it to working with Benicio Del Toro?
It was intense! No. He’s awesome to work with. He’s such a rare actor, in that he has a real unique approach to a scene. He’s exciting to work with, because he’s quite raw and instinctual, so you don’t really know what he will do in the scene. The scene can really take shape and it can dance and shape shift, in some ways. I love working like that because there’s a real openness, and you need a co-star who’s going to play with you in that way. He’s a great guy. We had a laugh on the movie. He’s a lot of fun.
